The Gerry Anderson Comics Listing

This is a listing of the publications to carry a regular Gerry Anderson related strip

ABC: Figures from the Audit Bureau of Circulation measure sales figures. These are published annually, usually from an average over six or twelve months. If a publication fails to last beyond a year, it may not register. It may take up to eighteen months for these to appear in a trade index publication, therefore the year given is of publication of the figure, not necessarily the year the figure relates to. (e.g a figure given for 1968 may refer to either 1966 or 1967). Figures given are from Benn's Press Directory.

David Nightingale

Thunderbirds

Stingray
Captain Scarlet
Zero X
21 (from issue 2)
The Angels (from issue 8)
Notes:
A spirited attempt to reprint the original TV Century 21 strips for a modern readership, in full colour.
Editor David Nightingale wanted to call the publication TV21 but IPC still owned the copyright for that title.
The original intention was a series of graphic compilations, similar to those released a few years later by Boxtree, but as the Stingray, Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet strips had originally used the centrespread, this proved impractical and a monthly format was decided on.
Issues were intended to be monthly but there were occasional delays - notably between issues 3 and 4, and between issues 6 and 7.

Astonishing instant success, published to coincide with the first BBC screenings in 1991-92.

Issue 1, undated
Notes:
Short lived trilogy of reprints from Thunderbirds The Comic and TV Century 21.
Most material was reprinted from scans of the comics, rather than the original 1990s artwork itself.

Captain Scarlet
Issue 1, undated
Notes:
Short lived companion trilogy of reprints from Captain Scarlet and TV Century 21.
It would seem both titles were cancelled with the untimely death of Alan Fennell in late 2001.
